Angel’s Hollow is one of those places that the locals recommend, and at first glance, you might say, “Really?” Don’t let the appearance fool you; locals like it for a reason.
After a quick skim over the menu, you might think it’s a Mexican place. You can get burritos, fish tacos, carnitas and a killer margarita. The choices don’t stop there, though. You can also grab a Rueben, chicken fried steak, a burger, or fish and chips. This place has a little something for everyone, especially if you’re a Chicago Bears fan (the chef is, too).
What They’re Known for: STRONG margaritas…maybe even too strong for some. Not sure you want to risk it? Go for the bloody Mary with bacon. On the food side, the carnitas are the headliner, and be sure to try all the homemade salsas sitting on the table.
What to Watch for: Service here can be hit and miss. Some might say one of the qualities of a local hole in the wall establishment is that they know their own, and those locals get preferential treatment. Throw that on top of a large dinner rush, and the servers might not meet your expectations. Best course of action? Go early and avoid the rush.
