The Canteen, housed in one of the oldest buildings on Main Street, takes the rustic ambiance of times past and gives it a modern spin. They offer a wide variety of comfort foods from burgers to flatbread pizzas and then put their own unique twist on it. The drink options are just as diverse including local brews, imported spirits and everything in between. With a cozy restaurant upstairs and a sports bar downstairs, the Canteen can accommodate all comers. With middle-tier pricing, it’s easy to splurge or pinch the wallet as your vacation spending allows.
What They’re Known for: The Canteen specializes in modern comfort food, local beers, fine wines and artfully crafted cocktails. Food offerings vary from relatively traditional fare like pizzas to zany takes on the familiar, like “The Big Kahuna,” which is made with teriyaki grilled spam, grilled pineapple and a sweet curry. Bartenders are familiar with both house creations and general mixes, making this an excellent place to grab a drink and meal before a night on the town.
What to Watch for: The Canteen can be easy to miss; the building is a renovated home. Because it was not initially built for commercial use, space can be limited. Especially for dinner, getting a reservation is highly recommended.
