Buttermilk Beginner Ski Trails and Beginner Terrain

Buttermilk is known as the beginner’s ski resort in the Aspen/Snowmass area. The amount of beginner ski terrain here is comparable to that of Snowmass, but this is a smaller mountain with less skier traffic and less advanced terrain. You can see a small magic carpet lift for children in the photo above. This area is located just outside of the Powder Pandas children’s center.

Panda Hill

This area is located at the base of the mountain. Parents can access these slopes by foot to watch their children ski for the first time. The Panda Hill beginner skiing area can be seen in the photo below.

Beginner Ski Trails

Homestead Road and the Sterner Catwalk are both beginner ski trails that meander down the front of Buttermilk Mountain. West Buttermilk has several ski trails that are suitable for beginner skiers and riders. This includes the trails; Larkspur, Red’s Rover, and Tom’s Thumb. Red Rover is where you will find the beginner ski and snowboard school terrain park. This terrain park has small features that are ideal for skiers who are new to terrain park skiing.
