Steamboat Expert Ski Terrain
Most of the toughest ski terrain at Steamboat are located on the highest part of the mountain; near the summit of Mt. Werner. A lot of this terrain is easily accessed from the top of the Morningside chairlift. This area has several steep chutes and gladed runs that are all extremely steep.
The Christmas Tree Bowl and Chutes 1-3 can be skied without any traversing or hiking. The East side of the Christmas Tree Bowl and the terrain beyond that will require a short hike; you can usually just leave your skis on and skate up a groomed traverse path. While there are plenty of other steep groomed pitches around this resort, this section of the mountain is the only place where you will find any double-black diamond runs.

The photos above and below were taken while looking up between Chute #3 and the Christmas Tree Bowl.
