Free Village Gondola Transportation
Telluride has 2 free gondolas and a free “Chondola”. The free gondolas can be used to travel between the Telluride mountain base areas as well as the Station Village parking garage.
There are gondola stations in Downtown Telluride, Sophia Station (Mountain Top), The Mountain Village and the Station Village Parking Garage.
The longest leg of the free gondola is the portion between Telluride’s Mountain Village and downtown Telluride. This gondola leg runs over the top of the mountain through St. Sophia Station and the ride takes about 13 minutes. This is shorter than the drive to the Town of Mountain Village which takes approximately 20 minutes.
There is also a free gondola that transports skiers from the Station Village parking garage to the Mountain Village base area. This gondola ride is less than 2 minutes long and will bring skiers and riders right to the base of the mountain and the heart of the Town of Mountain Village.
The Chondola starts near Big Billies Restaurant (Near most of the easiest ski trails) and travels to the center of the Mountain Village. The Chondola is a combination of a chair lift and a gondola. There are several 4-person gondola cabins as well as regular chairs on the Chondola lift line. You can see what a chondola cabins look like in the photo below.
