What are late March snow conditions at Winter Park?
Late March snow conditions at Winter Park are typically pretty solid for skiing, but you have to be careful because it can vary from year to year. In 2014, the snow was so good that nearly every resort was open at least through April 6, and some even later than that. Late March through early April is often a very busy time because there is plenty of snow and spring ski conditions. It is not uncommon for it to snow three feet of powder right until about mid-April as well.
But if you are planning a trip out, it’s best to just set your expectations that conditions might not be the best and then just hope for better. If you live nearby and can just drive it quickly, then you can plan around the snow. Be sure to check into some snow apps and keep a good feel for Winter Park’s total snowfall for the year. Even if they haven’t seen a great deal in March, if they have a strong base from early in the search, then the late march snow conditions will still be good.
There are tons of good apps out there for Colorado snow. I use isnowreport and it works pretty decent. I’m sure there are better ones out there, but I like this one because it is simple and doesn’t try to do too much. I don’t need a snow report app dragging my battery down because of all these extra features that I don’t need.
